Weekend update
Jul. 25th, 2004 05:51 pmOne of the other guys in the DC HIV support group that I attend is changing regimens, and had nearly a month's supply of Norvir left over. He offered it to anyone who needed it, and I accepted his offer.
So Saturday morning, I took the train into DC to meet him at Union Station to get the drug from him. He drove up in front of the station, handed me the bag, gave me a kiss and drove off. It wasn't until I got the bag into the station to review its contents that I realized that his regimen required that he take six of these capsules a day, while I only have to take one. Now I have nearly a six-month supply of Norvir! I'm going to check with my doc to see if it will keep that long, or if I need to find someone else to share the wealth with me.
After I met with Ray, I headed over to the
heterodoxy's apartment.
todc showed up a few minutes after I did, and we all visited for a bit and had some pizza, then Tod took a nap (he had just finished running) while Doug kicked my ever-lovin' ass at Scrabble. His first play of the game was 'toenails', which earned him a 50-point bonus for using all his tiles, and he never looked back. The final score was something like 340 to 220. I've been telling him all along that I could be beaten, but I didn't expect it to be so brutal! :-)
Then I headed over to visit with Rob and Mike. Rob picked me up at the Metro station and drove me to their home, which seems to be a little farther than the mile that DM indicated. We hung out for the afternoon, then Rob's friend Buck, who is visiting from Nairobi, Kenya, came over for dinner, which consisted of a wonderful prime rib with potatoes and homegrown tomatoes. Yum!
Dinner conversation mostly revolved around other people I knew nothing about, so I managed to put away my dinner faster than anyone else, which allowed me to scarf up another helping of everything. It was all quite delicious.
After dinner was over and Buck had left, we soaked for a few minutes in the hot tub, parked in front of the television for a few minutes, then went to bed, where the three of us played for a while and then went to sleep. I woke up later to get some water and found Mike watching TV downstairs and we sat for a while and talked then he and I fooled around some more.
Mike woke me up around 9 am this morning (Rob had left for church) and drove me to the New Carrolton train station so I could head home. After returning to Baltimore, I joined Kirk at his apartment to help him continue moving things out of Russell's house, but we got a little side-tracked. Kirk had left a prescription at the Safeway and we went to retrieve it, then I had to have lunch, which used up more time.
Then, to top it all off, when we did finally get started moving things, I was hit with the fatigue again after only about an hour of work. I just don't have the stamina that I used to, and I feel bad that I can't even help my friend move, although he was happy to have whatever help I could manage.
Now I'm going to walk out the door to my Baltimore support group. When I get back, I'm going to make some dinner and maybe check out the pilot of Lost that
gregmce recommended. We'll see if I can trust his recommendations in the future. ;-)
