I'm beginning to realize how frustrating web programming can be. There's a definite dichotomy between the documentation and how things actually work. I've known this as an abstract matter for a while, but wrestling with it is a horse of a different color.
I'm designing some reports for my web application, and the programming on the first one took a little less than thirty minutes (yay for modular design!), but figuring out how to get headers and footers on each page is proving far more difficult. Google turns up results that are supposed to work, but none of them do. Not in Safari, not in IE 5.5 for the Macintosh, and not in IE 6.0 for Windows. Grr.
I suppose I'll just have to fake it somehow. ("Oh, that was great! You're the best! Let's do this again sometime, okay? Bye!")
