Why Discord35?
Feb. 5th, 2005 02:14 amI used to play Diablo II pretty religiously. Whenever I had nothing better to do, I'd fire up the game and play a while.
I almost always played the single-player game, but I did create a BattleNet account. The BattleNet character I created was a necromancer, and I wanted a name that was sort of evil-sounding. I settled on Discord, but the name was already taken, of course. I was thirty-five years old at the time, thus Discord35.
I created a Yahoo! email account to register, and I started using it for other things where I didn't want to use my real email address. When I created my LiveJournal, I used that user id because I didn't want anything that would obviously connect with me. I don't want this journal showing up on a prospective employer's Google search.
At the time I created the journal, I was also concerned about the men I met finding the journal as well, but I've since started handing out the address with my email address so they can get a good idea of who I am. As I've remarked here before, it's the closest thing I have to an online profile. :-)
I call my journal Tainted Life because I have HIV. It touches everything, like a drop of ink diluted in a bowl of water. It also recalls the song Tainted Love, although the song's lyrics really don't mean anything to me.
I'm sometimes a little curious about how everybody picked their LJ names and what they call their journals, so I thought I'd share mine.
