John T. left me a message yesterday saying that he wasn't going to be going on the hike today after all, so I called Mike C., the hike organizer, to tell him I wouldn't be there either, because I was counting on being able to meet up with John and ride with him to the hike. John's message indicated that he would come into town, pick me up and drive me to the hike, but that was just out of the question.
So last night I had dinner with Louie B., Jim M., George G. and Mike C. (the hike organizer). George and Jim were planning on going on the hike and offered me a ride, so agreed and I called John to tell him that I wouldn't be riding with him to bowling.
We ate at a little place called the Salsa Grill, which had several Peruvian dishes. Everything that everybody else ordered look delicious. I didn't have much of an appetite, so I ordered a taco salad, which was pretty pedestrian. I should have ordered something better and take the rest home with me.
I got up this morning and ran to the grocery store to pick up stuff for lunch before George and Jim arrived to pick me up. As soon as I stepped outside, I knew it was going to be a great day -- the morning was beautiful! I did my shopping, came home and threw it all in my backpack and was out the door at 10:30 a.m. as instructed, joining George, Jim and Dave B. George also brought Reds, his long haired Dachshund. Such a cute little dog!
The hike itself was absolutely fabulous. I took over fifty photos, and as soon as I have them processed, I'll put them online and drop a link here. We didn't walk the full seven miles, but I bet it was over five. I had a fabulous time, but when I got home, I took a two hour nap. :-)
Then I woke up and skedaddled over to the community center for the HIV support group. At 6:15, I called the organizer to find out where he was. He had completely forgotten the date, so I waited for him and his boyfriend to arrive, standing by the door in case anybody else showed up so I could tell them the meeting was delayed. Nobody else showed, but the three of us chatted for a bit before calling it a night.
