I travelled to Arlington Monday night for the monthly Heart Circle at Doug M.'s home.
The talking stick travels around the circle three times. The first time the stick came to me, I talked about my job search, which I have abandoned for the time being. I simply explained to my boss that converting my COBRA benefits to a private insurance plan would raise my premium from $265 per month, which I'm currently paying myself, to $560 per month, which I cannot afford. Knowing that it wouldn't hurt to ask, I told him that if he could cover the difference, I could continue to work for him. He told me that he could cover that for about four months with the current cash flow, so I can give this job some more time.
I also shared the good news about my most recent bloodwork.
The second time the stick came around, I think I talked about how I was neglecting to call my parents. My mom sent an email yesterday morning wondering if I was okay, and I had put off calling them. In fact, I didn't call them until Tuesday evening. I also relayed the news of my nephew's birth and talked about the distance between myself and my brother.
The third time I held the stick, I tried to recite the poem I posted in my journal recently, but I couldn't complete it.
After the heart circle, seven of us went to a local Thai restaurant, where we enjoyed good food and good company. I spent the night with Doug; it's been a couple of weeks since I've stayed over with him and it was nice to spend some time with him again.
