After confirming the date with Rob and Mike, I called the HR person to leave a message letting him know that I was back in town and that I could start on January 23.
I also called my friend just to check in. He called me back to say that he'd make sure the HR guy made arrangements with me to come in tomorrow and sign the papers. Apparently, if I'm hired before the end of the year, I don't have to submit to a background check or pee in a little cup.
I'm anxiously awaiting the call from HR.
