The weekend
Mar. 21st, 2006 01:08 pmSo. The weekend.
As planned, met up with Jeff at 30 Degrees for the Happy Hour there. Doug M. eventually joined us as well. I was having a good time, but as the place filled up and the noise level increased, I found it increasingly difficult to follow a conversation and my enjoyment tapered off.
Doug, Jeff and I piled into Doug's car and headed out to Arlington. We ordered at the Kebob Palace and carried the food back to Jeff's place. We watched a tape of the Oprah show where she had actors from Brokeback Mountain — the ones who played Ennis, Jack and their wives. Then Doug left for home.
Saturday was lazy. I read both of Jeff's collections of Leonard and Larry and enjoyed them thoroughly, sometimes laughing out loud. Charlie, Jeff's cat, still refuses to approach me. Charlie tolerates contact from nobody but Jeff. Anyway, Jeff invited Doug and David, who was visiting from out of town, over for dinner Saturday evening, so Jeff and I walked out to the local shopping court and picked up some groceries. We also stopped at the Borders there so I could pick up a copy of The Joy of Cooking.
Dinner was a carrot-dill soup with cornbread muffins. Brownies and ice cream served as dessert. Doug took a nap while David chatted with Jeff and I.
Sunday, I met up with
mai_neh at the Wheaton metro station to help him and
grok unpack after their move on Saturday. I was hoping to spend the night with Eric, but he was too tired, so I went home on the train. Eric and I will try to get together for Thursday evening.
