Deck chairs, rearranging of
Apr. 25th, 2006 03:28 pmI took a page from
grok's book — instead of making progress on cleaning my apartment, I rearranged it. The effect is dramatic, I must say. The whole room looks like it has more space, and the television now sits directly in front of the sofa. On the rare occasion that I have someone over for a movie, I won't have to rearrange the furniture.
However, I think that I have extra furniture now. I have a recliner and footstool from Ikea in black leather and a rolling laptop desk that don't seem to have a place in the New Room Order. I'm pretty sure that Russell will take the desk off my hands. I'll have to see about finding someone for the recliner.
I'm very, very pleased with the new arrangement. Once I can get Russell to claim the curio cabinet that he purchased from me last February (!), I'll be able to add a couple of other pieces, such as end tables for my sofa.
As part of this effort, I disconnected my DSL modem and wireless router because they were hidden behind some books in the television console, so I had no Internet last night. I'm going to hook them back up tonight and mount them on the wall in a discreet location because I need my Internet!

Playstation fun
Apr. 25th, 2006 03:49 pmMy office mate and I had lunch at Chipotle in the Bowie Town Center yesterday afternoon, then made a side trip to the EB Games there. I was looking for the new Tomb Raider game for the PSP, but it won't be in stores until June, so I bought the Prince of Persia title instead.
I also purchased a 2 gig memory card for my PSP, so overnight I ripped video from a DVD and copied it to the PSP so I could watch it on the train this morning. 53 minutes of 4:3 video took up 140 Mb. When I left home this morning, my computer was busy ripping the remainder of the disk for tomorrow morning's commute.
I really like this little device. It's nice to have something that carries photos, music, videos, games and a web browser. I'm carrying The Picture of Dorian Gray, The War of the Worlds and The Island of Doctor Moreau at the moment, all courtesy of Project Gutenberg.
I still haven't made any progress on working up a program to export my address book on my computer to a set of static pages for access on the PSP, but I'll get to it eventually.
I'm glad I'm enjoying this thing. I've spent about $500 on it so far. :-\
