I spent Friday evening with Eric. We had dinner at a Jewish deli and restaurant near his home, then stopped off at Blockbuster to rent a movie. Eric had been out of town for about two weeks supervising a road trip that his church youth group embarked upon to visit several sites in the Southern United States that were significant to the Civil Rights Movement. In fact, he had just returned home late Friday afternoon. Between his horniness and exhaustion, we never watched the movie.

Saturday, after waking up together on a weekend for the first time in ages, we went to Snyder's for some grocery shopping, then returned to his place for a simple breakfast and a few episodes of Speed Racer and Underdog.

After a nap, Eric drove me to the home of [livejournal.com profile] grok and [livejournal.com profile] mai_neh, with detours for dry cleaning and prescriptions.

Tod and Doug were having a housewarming party in their new home, which was very nice. They arranged for a chef, Ted, to cater the dinner, and he prepared several Thai dishes. Other guests brought snacks and desserts and several were very delightful.

This party was an attempt at a housewarming-cum-game day, but there wasn't enough interest in games to get much more than a game or two of Hello Kitty Uno and Apples to Apples. [livejournal.com profile] fredosan and I played Life and some Simpson's-themed game, but it wasn't as much fun as the more focused game days. Still, I met some very, very nice people. Tod and Doug know an amazing number of nice folks.

I had arranged to stay over at their house, because by the time the party winds down, I have to take a 3 a.m. train back to Baltimore. After everybody else left and Tod ferried folks to the metro station, Doug and I collected trash and put things into some semblance of order. I got to sleep in Tod's office again on his leather couch, which is quite comfortable.

Waking up Sunday morning was great. Doug went running, and I chatted with Tod. When Doug returned, we snacked on shortbread cookies and slices of melon while we talked about whatever grabbed our attention. Doug came over to sit by me and snuggle, wearing boxer shorts with ladybugs on them. He fell asleep on my shoulder and was startled awake when Lucy growled and barked at at the storm that was outside.

Friday evening, Bob S. had left a message offering me a couple of tickets to a concert with Barbara Cook and the Gay Men's Chorus of Washington. I returned the call Saturday morning and he called that afternoon to leave me instructions for picking them up. I invited Eric to join me, so I could spend some more time with him.

So I had to get up from my conversation with Tod and Doug to take a shower and pack up. Tod drove me to the metro station and I made my way to Bob's building in Dupont, where he had left the tickets at the front desk. Eric called to say that he had underestimated the amount of work waiting for him at the church, so he couldn't make it to the concert. I called several people, but was unable to find someone to accompany me on such short notice.

The concert was great! I delighted in being able to pick out Jim (the man I sometimes house sit for), as well as Bob. The chorus always blows me away; I often have tears in my eyes because the music is so moving or I'm just so happy to be there -- chorus performances fill me with joy.

I had never heard Barbara Cook perform before. In fact, I had no idea who she is. However, she's a fantastic performer. I really enjoyed her numbers, and she seemed like a very nice woman, very gracious and humble. She seemed delighted to be performing with the chorus.

After the concert, I caught a train back to Baltimore. I hit my apartment, showered, then went around the corner to Jeffery's apartment. I presented him with a gift -- a t-shirt that I bought from [livejournal.com profile] fritterfae depicting an icon of Jonathon and David. Last year, Jeffrey performed in an orchestra for an opera of Jonathon and David, and he was tickled at the gift.

I hadn't seen him in almost two weeks either; he's been working on this year's opera and on a selection of music for the wedding of his friends Jeff and Hector. We sat and talked for over an hour, then I took him out to dinner at the Mt. Vernon Stable, where we sat at the bar and chatted up the bartender. We also ran into Joli, Hector's 25-year-old niece from Venezuela. David, the bartender, kept trying to get her to marry him. :-)

So that was my weekend.
