Weekend, part one
Aug. 28th, 2006 07:21 pmI had a great weekend. First, I hooked up with
mai_neh Friday night for some one-on-one gaming. We played Scrabble, Phase 10, and two games of Tongiaki. I had a great time, despite losing every game except the final game of Tongiaki. We took a break to take Lucy out for her walk, following a slightly longer course than the route we took the last time I accompanied them on their walk. It was very pleasant to chat with Doug while we walked. The entire evening was great.
Saturday, I had plans to go to the Museum of American History with Dakota. The museum is closing after Labor Day weekend, and I wanted to get a look at some of the exhibits that Russell had designed. Dakota and I had agreed to meet at the Smithsonian metro station at 9 a.m., but when I called him at 8:45 a.m. to tell him I'd be a few minutes late, he told me to relax because my call had just awakened him! Due to a miscommunication, we made plans for me to go to the museum and catch up with him later when he would rather have joined me. Unfortunate, because I would have enjoyed the time with him. I didn't hear what he was saying and he didn't correct my misunderstanding. :-(
Still, I did meet him for lunch in Silver Spring, where I unintentionally dropped the word "boyfriend." It's very strange how our subconscious can toss these things out. I suppose that he and I will work out what that means.
After lunch, Dakota tried to buy a couple of dress shirts at the Burlington Coat Factory there in Silver Spring. After selecting two shirts, we waiting in line for about twenty minutes. When we reached the cashier, she tried to ring up the first shirt, only to find that there was no price on it, so she had to call for a price check. While we waited, she rang up the next customer, so even after the price came back, we had to wait for her to finish that. Then she rang up the first shirt, only to find that there was no price on the second shirt either! At this point, Dakota told her that he didn't want the shirts anymore and we left to go to Marshall's, which had better line management.
We also picked up Dakota's order at the comic shop and stopped by Whole Foods before heading back to his house, where we fooled around and napped a little. Well, I napped. I have no idea if he napped or not.
It was getting a little late, so Dakota drove me back to the Forest Glen metro station and I rode the train back to Dupont Circle, stopping to buy some lunch at Whole Foods for my canoe trip on Sunday.
