Feb. 20th, 2015 05:47 amWell, I'm at the train station in Baltimore, waiting for the commuter train to take me to the airport. I'm on schedule, which is always a little bit of a victory.
I sometimes compare my life to surfing. In surfing, you paddle out into the ocean to catch your wave. It's an effort, but once you catch that wave, you can just enjoy the ride.
Getting my ass out of bed at 5 am, showering, getting dressed, etc. -- that's all paddling. Once I reached the train station, it's all surfing.
As I write this, my weather app reports that the temperature outside is 0 degrees, with a windchill of -13. It's only in the past year that I have realized that my bathroom shares the floor with some unheated area downstairs. It was cold!
And the walk to the station was brutal. I'm not looking forward to waiting outside for the shuttle bus to the airport terminal, but once I get there, I'll be warm all the way to Florida.
