Dec. 20th, 2015 10:22 pm"Time you enjoy wasting is not wasted." That was yesterday. i didn't do much more than feed myself yesterday. i never left the condo. i read. i napped. i played games. i watched Netflix. Whatever i wanted to do that moment, that's what i did.
i think of these days as "rubber band" days. Days when i can relax after being responsible -- or as close as i can manage on a daily basis. :-) i have learned not to begrudge myself these days.
Since Master has come to live with me, i haven't had one of these days. But Master flew down to Memphis Friday morning, so i should have known that this was going to happen.
i got a lot more done today, although it was a near thing. i had made a breakfast date with Russell for this morning, which turned into a brunch date because Russell had accidentally turn off the ringer on his phone. While we ate, we made plans to go to Home Depot in the afternoon.
Then i spent the next few hours doing whatever i wanted to do, again, although i did start a load of laundry. (i had brought some of my clothes home from Master's condo, and they needed to be washed to remove any mold or bacteria.) i also went grocery shopping, picking up some stuff for dinner, as well as a few staples.
Russell had been waiting for a Home Depot run for a while. He filled a long shopping list. My list was a more modest: some caulk and painter's tape so i can caulk my bath tub. Master caulked it, but it didn't dry properly, so I'm going to take a shot. i also wanted a new toilet seat, but i didn't realize that they came in different shapes, and i couldn't say for sure which shape would match my toilet bowl.
After i dropped Russell off, i parked Master's car in the garage (Master has monthly parking in Baltimore now, until He can move back to DC), and walked back to my condo.
i made a lovely supper -- seared scallops with garlic-ginger snow peas over white rice. i was inspired by a recipe in one of Mark Bittman's cookbooks, but i swapped out the tuna he indicated for scallops, because we already had scallops in the freezer. i was so pleased that i posted a photo on Facebook, which i never do. Then i cleaned up in the kitchen, like a responsible adult would do and folded laundry.
i say it was a near thing, because i suspect that if i hadn't made breakfast plans with Russell, i would have stayed in the condo again and accomplished nothing.
Anyway, i'm going to bed after i post this. At a responsible hour. :-)
