I missed the AIDS Memorial Quilt

I just found out today that 1,000 blocks of the AIDS Memorial Quilt were on display at the Ellipse in Washington, DC this weekend. I'm very disappointed that I didn't know about this ahead of time; I would have dropped everything to go see it.
None of my friends here in Baltimore were aware that it was on display and I didn't hear anybody discussing it at the HIV social last night.
I saw it in 1993, when it was last in DC. This display is of the panels that they've received since then. I did go to the Quilt website and I looked up the quilt panel that we made for David Zeiders, who was the treasurer for my square dance club, the Chesapeake Squares, for several years.
One of the guys at the Baltimore support group passed away this past week, which is sobering. I stopped by briefly this evening, but I had to skip out almost immediately to attend a birthday dinner for another friend. I did give the sequined blouse and leopard print makeup case to the facilitator and his boyfriend. They were very happy at the gift; best fifty cents I've spent in a long time!
Dinner was nice. EM was celebrating his 41st birthday and we all ended up at an Irish bar in Baltimore named O'Shea's. MD had bangers and mash, Russell, BH and I all had Shepard's Pie and EM had the London Broil. The bill for the five of us came to $75 with tip, although we didn't let EM contribute. :-)
