Russell called me yesterday to remind me that it would have been our fifteenth anniversary.
I wished him a happy anniversary, but I don't think he understood it or appreciated it. To me, I don't think there's anything wrong to continue to observe the date, even though we're not still together. We do still have a relationship, after all.
Maybe this just underscores that I'm past it and he's not. I keep reminding myself that I was essentially past it when I broke up with him, so I've got an unfair head start.
In fact, I'm intrigued by the notion of observe anniversaries for all of the relationships in my life. It would be an opportunity to celebrate each of my friendships at least once a year.
