I made it to [livejournal.com profile] heterodoxy's apartment about 2 pm for his combination Game Day/Independence Day Party. Other attendees were [livejournal.com profile] todc, [livejournal.com profile] legalmoose, [livejournal.com profile] lioncub, [livejournal.com profile] cjliotta, [livejournal.com profile] gregmce, [livejournal.com profile] xavier78 and Roger.

I got to play Phase 10 for the second time, which was lots of fun. I spent an inordinate amount of time trying to complete the first phase, but after that I did much better, managing to end in the middle of the pack. My friend Ett likes to play Phase 10, so maybe I'll scare up a game with her sometime.

Tod made a fuss over the love bites that EGN left when he and I were making out at the Spike Saturday night. Did I mention that he had me bent backwards over the Video Poker machine? I think that makes the evening just that much more tawdry. :-)

(By the way, my boss immediately noticed the marks this morning. I confirmed that they were in fact hickeys; his response was "excellent!" My ex, however, didn't mention them during our commute on the train this morning. I'm certain that he would have said something if he had noticed them.)

Anyway, Doug had made some nice chili, olive bread, and banana muffins. There were also chips, including those wonderful lime tortilla chips! Plenty of munchies for the day!

I managed to play Scrabble with Doug, Tod and Richard, and really enjoyed it. Scrabble has to be one of my favorite games, whether I win or lose. This time, I was winning. I drew the first turn and managed to play all of of my tiles with the word "encoded," which earned me 76 points. I don't think I lost the lead at all during the game. I'd like a rematch sometime, if only to prove to Doug that I can be beat.

We also played Cranium with three teams of three. Cranium is always fun. I got saddled with all of the drawing tasks, including some that I had to draw with my eyes closed. The high point of my performance would have to be modeling Marilyn Monroe. The worst performance would have to be trying to hum "stand by me" -- I'm just not very musical, I suppose. Danny kept hogging the clay, so I didn't get to do any sculpting. :-)

Despite the rain, we did get to view the fireworks display, which was impressive. Next year, we need to do something about that tree, though!

We had pizza and porn for dinner, and then I spent the night on Doug's air mattress. Despite going to sleep about 2 am, I woke up at 6. I slipped on my glasses, looked at the clock and went back to sleep. I also realized that I have to make sure the mattress is properly sealed; I woke up in a hammock twice that night!

Monday morning we enjoyed a nice breakfast of french toast and sausage, then we started another game of Scrabble, which I had to resign early because [livejournal.com profile] claddah76 made it to the Metro station early for our rendezvous before heading off to lunch. I don't think Doug and Tod were that unhappy to have the game to themselves. :-)

I wonder which of them won?

Steven and I had a nice afternoon together, taking the Metro out to Bethesda and wandering around. We stopped in a furniture store and discovered that we have pretty divergent tastes in home furnishings, then spent some time in Second Story Books. We ended up at BD's Mongolian Barbecue, which was very tasty. So much so that we both ate too much. We hung out there for a few more minutes and then took the Metro back to Union Station, where we parted.

All in all, a wonderful weekend. Movie on Friday with LK, Auction at the Spike on Saturday with EGN, Game Day and Fireworks on Sunday, breakfast and Mongolian Barbecue on Monday. Whew!

Zonked.

I completed another project at work today, then returned to my previous project, trying to optimize the code and make it run faster. My boss and I aren't that pleased with the speed of the final system, so I'm rewriting the base routines, which will require touching just about every piece of the system.

This is the application that I'm still waiting on some information from the client's fax vendor. Today I suggested that we negotiate another milestone with the client, so we can invoice for the work completed thus far.

Took a nap when I got home. I've been feeling tired all day. In addition, my body is aching, and I can't remember anything yesterday that would have caused it. I hope I'm not coming down with something. :-(

I did manage to drag myself to the square dance tonight, although I was so tired that I was making stupid mistakes. I finally left early to get some dinner, but then couldn't finish the meal. I'm probably just overtired from all the stuff I did this weekend.

My company is sharing space with my old company at no charge. My old company is subleasing from another business, which will have to vacate by the end of this month, so all of us are out as well. My old company has made other arrangements, but my company will probably just work without a central office for a couple of months.
