Man's best friend
Jul. 17th, 2004 06:56 amLucy's not happy. She misses
todc.
When I visited Friday morning to get the key and my orientation, Lucy was happy to see me and eager to get some loving. She hardly ever sat still!
I left to do a few hours work at my client's office; when I returned home, Tod had already left on his trip to Seattle with
heterodoxy. Lucy came to the front door, expecting to greet Tod, but got only me, poor thing. She retreated to the garage and spent most of the evening there.
Tod told me that the garage is her 'safe space', so I don't bother her too much while she's out there. I did stand in the door and talk to her a little.
She ventured out towards the end of the evening, and I talked with her, trying to explain that Tod would be back and that I'd take care of her until he did. I gave her lots of love, but she kept looking around, like she was trying to find him. She did eat, but she didn't want to go outside.
She slept on her bed in Tod's room last night, but still didn't want to go out in the morning, as is her habit. She hasn't gone outside since I arrived -- I don't think she wants to leave me alone in the house. She's back in the garage right now, moping.
Edwina, seems unfazed, but I think she misses Tod too. She came to sit in my lap when I was visiting Friday morning, but since then she hasn't wanted any attention from me. Cats are naturally aloof, so it's hard to tell.
These kids are going to be ecstatic when daddy comes home.
