Thursday evening, I met Doug M. at the Eastern Market metro station to see Patience at the Capitol Hill Arts Workshop. He was running late, so I huddled down in the station while a thunderstorm raged above ground. I sat cross-legged on the floor, re-reading my old copy of "Stranger in a Strange Land."

When he arrived, it was too late for us to have dinner before the play, so we stopped for a hot drink at Bread and Chocolate, then went on to the play. My primary motivation for attending was to see my friend Ann perform. She's a square dancer, so it was no surprise that there were other square dancers in the audience: Gloria, Jocelyn, BJ and Kent was running the lights for the production.

After the play, we headed to Doug's home in Arlington, after dropping his friend Keith off at home. We ordered dinner from a carry-out restaurant and talked over gyros and hummus for quite a long time, discussing his recent vacation on California and creating community, among other things. We retired to bed and made love before dropping off to sleep.

Friday morning we awakened and fooled around some more, making him over two hours late to work. (Whoops!) I hung around his house until about 11:30 am, working on a project for Robyn. I called him at that point to report my progress and then headed into downtown DC to meet with him and work some more.

Kirk called during the afternoon, asking if he could visit Friday evening and watch the opening ceremonies of the Olympic Games in Athens and we made plans for him to show up a little before 8 pm.

I'm heading out to brunch with Russell today. In fact, he's at the door. More later.
