Implicit Association Test
Sep. 3rd, 2004 10:28 pmHere's an interesting set of tests -- a lot more provocative than the usual LiveJournal quizzes.
"Project Implicit represents a collaborative research effort between researchers at Harvard University, the University of Virginia, and University of Washington. While the particular purposes of each study vary considerably, most studies available at Project Implicit examine thoughts and feelings that exist either outside of conscious awareness or outside of conscious control."
I've taken one test so far, the demo Race Implicit Association Test which indicated that I have a "slight automatic preference for White American relative to Black American" -- a classification that I share with 12% of the people taking the test. 48% of respondents were classified with a "strong automatic preference for White" while only 6% displayed a "strong automatic preference for Black".
I hope this means that I'm less biased than the average bear.
