Anticipation
Sep. 13th, 2004 11:33 pmI'm really dragging today. After happy hour, dinner with friends, kayaking, frolicking, bowling, support group, dinner with friends, a day of work, dinner with friends, and C1 square dancing, I'm about ready to collapse. I'm going to post this entry, take my pills, eat a chocolate-covered raspberry jelly (yum!) and go to bed.
My boss gave me about $1,600 in checks today, which brings me up to the pay period ending August 15. After I deposit this, I'll have a little over two grand in the bank, which will last me almost two months!
I've always been good with my money, at least in a tactical sense -- my spending and saving. Strategic money management, like investments, has always been something I've neglected to even learn. So, I can manage my finances well, but I've been even more impressed with myself over the past few months. If I were working full time, I'd be making about $25K. Since I'm not, I'd estimate I'm making less than $20K. Despite this, I don't feel at all deprived, which is amazing when I stop to consider it. I feel like I'm living on air and sunshine most of the time. :-)
(One point of dissatisfaction: I can't afford my square dance weekends anymore. I'm still sad that I had to miss the Phoenix convention. I've got some jingle in my pocket and I'm definitely going to the DC Lambda Squares' Harper's Ferry Hoedown in Harper's Ferry, West Virginia come hell or high water!)
When this company can pay me what I'm worth, I'll be able to save boatloads very quickly and build up my cushion again!
Tomorrow morning I go consult with my doctor about last week's blood work. I hope the numbers are good. Then I'm picking up my new eye glasses and heading into DC for work. I'll post the news about my numbers at my earliest opportunity.
