Aaaarrgh!

Train delays were particularly murderous this morning. I managed to be at Penn Station in Baltimore to board the MARC train scheduled to leave at 7:35 am. The train actually left the station at 8:07, more than thirty minutes late.

A few minutes after leaving the station, we paused for several minutes. During this time, about five other trains passed us. Our train then began to back up so that we could be routed onto a different track.

Due to these and other delays, my train actually arrived in DC at 9:45 am, about an hour and fifteen minutes later than the scheduled arrival time.

I just want to go home. :-)

After I survived my morning commute, I had a pretty good day at work. Well, I did peter out in the afternoon and found it hard to keep myself on task. I left a little after four, which is my plan until the track work is complete. If my train home is delayed, I'd like to manage to still get home at a reasonable hour.

Then the train runs pretty much on time. Go figure.

I got home and rested a bit, then managed to get myself off of my ass to wash a load of towels at the neighborhood laundromat. When I got home, I fixed a dinner and cleaned up after myself. Some of my laundry from yesterday was still waiting to be folded, so I accomplished that chore and put all of the clothes away. I also ditched all of the ratty underwear that I had purchased replacements for over the weekend.

This is probably boring for anybody else reading this, but I'm trying to find ways to motivate myself to work on my procrastination and I think this sort of laundry list will help.

One of the things I have to do in the next few days is tackle my desk and sort through all the papers and the mail littering it. I also need to parcel up my old Wired magazines so I can put them out on the next recycling day. I kept all of them back to vol 1, issue 2, until a few months ago when I started tossing them after they were read. Now it's time to get rid of the boxes of magazines I still have.

That reminds me. I also have to find some way to productively discard a few hundred comic books. Some of these are over twenty years old. I'm sure they're worth something, but I'm just not motivated to do something about them. Not yet.

So I'm relaxing in my recliner, which rests in the middle of a much less cluttered apartment, listening to my iPod, which is shuffling through some of my favorite music. Insert self-satisfied sigh here. :-)

Tomorrow is election day!
