I voted!

It took me about an hour to wend my way through the lines to cast my vote, much longer than any election I've participated in at that polling location. The Baltimore Sun is predicting an 80% voter turnout today, which is encouraging.

In other news, I've screwed up my finances and now I have a negative balance in my checking account. [livejournal.com profile] kenny73 had sent me a check as a gift, which was drawn on his bank in Canada. I deposited the check, but once my bank realized it was a foreign check, the amount was debited from my account. I called Customer Service and I was told that verification could take up to six weeks, although my guess is that's an unlikely occurrence.

I do still have cash in my pocket, but I'll have to see if my boss has received any money from our clients that he can pass on to me. Also in the good news column: all of my transactions to pay bills have cleared. Nothing is bouncing, so no returned check fees.

I had made plans to attend the election party at Center Stage with Kirk tonight, but since I just have $67 in my pocket, I had to call him to back out. Instead, he's going to come down here and we'll watch election coverage on TV and maybe play some games. I think I can put together a credible dinner for the two of us as well.

Russell is also staying home today and he's here with me now. I made a nice lunch for the two of us and now he's chatting with his sister in Pittsburgh. I just got finished cleaning up after lunch and taking my afternoon pills.

Just a quick quote from Crazy Apple Rumors:

If Kerry wins, I expect to be up to my armpits in hookers and booze. Conversely, if Bush wins, I expect to be up to my armpits in hookers and booze.

and...

Apologies to our friends abroad. We know the world doesn't revolve around us.

It revolves around that big pole that goes through the center of the Earth.

Santa lives near it.

And if those last two sentences make you uncomfortable about the people who are going to elect the supposed leader of the free world...

Well, that's just your sense of self-preservation kicking in.

On October 21, I had a nice evening at Dupont Circle with [livejournal.com profile] spiritquest. While we were sitting by the fountain, I drew this silly little picture:

Here's a picture of Samantha, one of Chick and Mike's three children, and me at the wedding reception from Saturday.
