Catching up - Tuesday
Jan. 28th, 2005 09:45 pmTuesday was the free movie night at the Charles Theatre, sponsored by the Baltimore City Paper. Kirk joined me for a view of House of Flying Daggers, which was pretty darn cool. All the reviewers have been commenting on how beautiful the film is, and it's been nominated for an Oscar for Best Cinematography.
The audience was a little annoying, laughing at all the wrong places. I can understand it because the plot's a little over the top -- if you regard it as just a movie plot. However, at some point I realized that the story was more reminiscent of a legend or a myth. Taken on those terms, it wasn't very amusing at all.
Kirk brought along one of his neighbors, a very cute man named Shelton. At least, I think that's his name. I distinctly heard the 't' rather than a 'd' so Shelton, not Sheldon. Whatever, he's cute. He used to live in New York City, where he did some acting. He works at a Whole Foods someplace. He implied there are "pictures" of him floating around on the Internet. :-)
He was Kirk's guest, so I didn't flirt with him. Much. I'm sort of unable to completely restrain myself. After the movie, the three of us walked a short distance in the cold until it was time for us to part ways. Me for my home and they for theirs. I reached out to shake Shelton's hand and told him I looked forward to seeing him again sometime.
"Definitely," he replied, smiling as he clasped my hand in both of his for just a moment before turning away.
He's been in my thoughts quite a bit since then.
