So I hitched a ride with Jeff and his friend John, who used to be Jeff's housemate and is visiting from Phoenix, from Baltimore back to Jeff's house in Arlington. We hung out at the house for a bit, then went out for dinner at the Lebanese Taberna at Pentagon Row.

Sunday morning was the canoe trip down the Shenandoah. I had a fabulous time! This was a wonderful trip and I expressed my gratitude to Jeff more than once for his invitation. I'm going to put together a longer entry about the trip with a couple of photos sometime soon.

Speaking of photos, I've decided to get a new camera. I know that I was going to continue to put that off, but this camera is not cutting it. A major consideration for the new one is how long it takes to start up and take a picture. I have to wait almost a minute for the damn thing to finish turning on, and about as long after each picture! I'm going to research my options and pick one out before I go doing outdoorsy stuff again.

Yesterday I met my boss in DC. We had a meeting with a client in the middle of the day and I had a visit with another client in the afternoon. I also got another check which will put my bank balance back about $2,000 again. Then I went back to Jeff's house to pick up my luggage and accepted a ride from him to Bob R.'s house for the evening.

Bob went to Italy about three months ago and wants to publish a few of his photos on the web for his friends to see, so I showed him how to easily publish a simple photo gallery using iPhoto on his Mac. We also activated his 10 MB of web space from Verizon. Now he's going to spend some time adding comments to each photo and arranging the album. When he's finished with that, I'll make another visit to help him upload it to the web.

As a thank-you for helping him with the computer, Bob took me out to dinner in Adam's Morgan. We ate at a restaurant called Mezé, which was wonderful! I ordered a salad of diced cucumbers, onions, tomatoes and green peppers with parsley and lemon juice (I think) and the Ton Kebap, which was a couple of skewers of grilled tuna with mashed potatoes and a mango relish. Bob ordered dolma, stuffed grape leaves, and mucver, which are zucchini pancakes. I don't usually enjoy stuffed grapes leave, but these were okay. The mucver was tasty.

For dessert, we ordered Profiterol, which was a couple of puff pastries with vanilla ice cream inside, covered with a generous amount of a rich chocolate sauce. Bob took one bite and was literally stunned for a moment and the explosion of tastes. Upon ordering it, the server asked if we wanted just one. The answer is definitely yes; this is a great dessert, but a little goes a long way!

I spent the night at Bob's home, then caught a train back to Baltimore this morning. I'm safe at home now. What a great weekend!
