Sep. 26th, 2005 01:16 pmOkay, in what dead-tree encyclopedia will you find an entry on Ikea? I love that this thing has articles on other topics besides science, history, geography, etc.
This article is rather interesting. It seems that the opening of a new Ikea store is something special, like the opening of an Apple store. Traffic is a mess; pollice in Emeryville, CA had to direct traffic for three months because it swamped the traffic light system. People were injured when the store in Edmonton, North London opened. When the Atlanta store had its grand opening, the first person in line had been there for a week. What?! Looooo-ser!
I also love the little note that the Atlanta store is the first Ikea store to serve grits. And there's a helpful hyperlink to the entry for grits. :-)
And the article wraps up with a chronological list of Ikea stores around the world. Such attention to detail!
