So, my previous company laid me off after the Atlanta manager bought the owner out and my current employer scooped me up.
Fast forward about eighteen months. My previous employer has been back in the hands of the founder for a couple of months. The guy that runs the IT infrastructure and represents a huge chunk of the company's expertise has given his notice.
Now my current boss and my former boss are in talks. It's possible that my current boss will sell out to my former boss and I'll be working back in DC again.
My boss just called to discuss it with me and to make sure that I would be amenable to the arrangement. I assured him that I had felt a great deal of loyalty to my former boss and that I have a strong loyalty to him now. The manager guy that bought the company and laid me off the very next day with no notice? Not so much loyalty. :-P
If this goes through, I'll be working in DC again. I'll be answering to my current boss, because we'll be a "wholly-owned subsidiary" of the other company. I'll get a salary. I'll get to continue my insurance.
I'll be back in the company I used to work with, run by the same guy that I liked so much, with over a year's experience in new technologies. They work with FileMaker Pro. We work with PHP and MySQL. They're exploring RealBASIC. It would be a very interesting place to work, I think.
I have to say that I hope that this goes through.
