Here's another creeping realization: I love Baltimore.
Every time I go away, even for a few days, I'm always excited to come home to my city. I really love my neighborhood, especially how walkable it is. It has everything I need on a day-to-day basis: grocery store, drug store, pharmacy, restaurants. My square dance club meets at the senior citizen just two blocks to the west. There's the park at Mt. Vernon Place and Baltimore's Washington Monument. There's the Walters Art Museum. I've got ready access to the Baltimore bus, subway and light rail systems. And, of course, the proximity of Penn Station, my gateway to DC.
I can walk a few blocks further to get to the Baltimore Central Library or the Charles, the local movie theatre that shows "first-run specialty films in addition to Hollywood movies, foreign films and cinema classics." Further still is the Inner Harbor, with shopping, dining and attractions.
A few weeks ago, Eric and I walked around while I showed him my neighborhood. I was surprised at how pleased I felt to be sharing this with somebody else. We walked around the Inner Harbor a couple of weeks later, and I enjoyed that as well. I think he'd like to see Fell's Point next.
It's really a great little town. :-)
