Regimen update
Feb. 13th, 2006 11:16 amI saw my doc on Thursday. Months ago, I had shared with him my concern that I might be seeing the beginnings of lipoatrophy in my face and we decided to play wait and see. This time, I showed him my legs, which look to me like they're also beginning to show signs of lipoatrophy.
The doctor agreed and adjusted my medications. He dropped the Combivir, which contains AZT and is most likely to be the culprit while contributing the least to controlling the HIV. He has substituted Epivir, which is another component of Combivir.
We also discussed Truvada, which has the attraction of being a one-pill per day regimen, but decided to be a bit conservative and just switch out the one medication. However, I had to take Combivir twice a day, but Epivir only has to be taken once a day.
While I was visiting Rob and Mike in Martha's Vineyard, I drifted into taking my "eat with food" pills after dinner rather than after lunch, along with my evening dose of Combivir so that I was taking pills only twice a day. With this latest change, I'm only taking my pills once per day.
I go back in a month for more blood work to gauge the effectiveness of the new regimen.

We've turned the corner
Feb. 13th, 2006 11:23 amI received my first paycheck last Friday via direct deposit, which made waking up reminiscent of Christmas mornings as a child, except that instead of running downstairs to see what Santa left under the tree, I quickly pulled my laptop to me and logged into my checking account to see the new balance. :-)
February 10, 2006 marked the day that I stopped living from paycheck to paycheck. Yay!
