I'm in Nassau, Bahamas, the last stop on my cruise. We'll be docking in Fort Lauderdale tomorrow morning and I'll be back home by tomorrow night.

Thursday night, we had very rough seas after we left St. Martten. The ship was bouncing up and down about the height of an entire deck of the ship. David, Matt and I went to the helipad to stand as close to the bow as we could. The wind was very fierce and the ship was jumping up into the waves; it was exhilarating!

Unfortunately, I soon succumbed to sea-sickness. After hanging out at the helipad for a while, we decided to hit the spa for a spell in the steam room. As soon as I went below deck, I started feeling a little queasy and as I was showering before going into the steam room, it became worse.

We skipped the spa and headed up to the SeaQuest lounge, where I sit by the window and stare outside and attempt to calm myself. It didn't work; I puked in the lounge. David had gone to fetch a sea-sickness bag, but got back just about thirty seconds too late. I had already messed up the the window sill.

I was sick the rest of Thursday evening. David skipped out on a dinner date to stay with me and our friends Matt and Scott joined us to help keep me distracted and comforted. Scott recommended that we move out to the pool deck so I could get some fresh air, which did help a lot. I eventually felt well enough to move back to the cabin and lie down. David and I talked a little longer (mainly to keep me distracted) and then I fell asleep.

I felt mostly okay Friday morning. For the most part, I was just a little anxious of becoming sick again. Even the normal motion of the ship made me wary, but I became accustomed to it once more. We played two hands of Canasta in the Windjammer; I lost one game by only ten points!

Last night was very, very nice. There was a dance revue at the on-board theatre called City of Dreams, with dance numbers to popular songs, then David and I squeezed in a foxtrot and a cha-cha before dinner with Scott, Dennis and Matt at one of the specialty restaurants onboard, the Chops Grille.

David and Scott had dined at the Chops Grille earlier in the week, but David reported that the meal wasn't as nice as it could be because their dining companions weren't very fun. So David was reluctant to keep our date Friday night, but Scott convinced him to join us.

It was another wonderful meal. The company was great and made the meal feel fantastic. The high point for me was an appetizer of a grilled portobello mushroom cap with grilled asparagus, crostini with some sort of goat cheese, all piled into a tower with a small salad of endive and tomato atop, surrounded by dollops of a black olive tapanade.

My entree was a petite filet mignon, and it was done just the way I like it. We had a choice of sauces for our meat; I selected the Bearnaise and another that I can't recall. I did order a passion fruit mousse for dessert, but I wasn't even able to finish that, despite that it was the lightest selection available.

After dinner, David and I danced a couple of times in the Atrium again. I've really enjoyed dancing! Then we changed into more casual clothes for the Sound of Music sing-along back in the theatre. There were people in costume; how they managed to pack all the clothes they needed for a week that included two formal nights and still make room for nun's habits, I have no idea. My favorite costume was Rob, who dressed up in a little outfit in short pants made from drapery fabric, complete with a little tassel in his cap. It was the very shade of the pattern in the movie, but I don't think a lot of people noticed. It wasn't as outrageous as some of the others. Folks started drifting out about halfway through the movie, but I stayed up for the entire show and returned to our cabin at about 1:30 in the morning.

This morning, I sprang out of bed to sit on one of the upper decks and watch the water as we approached Nassau, then had a few bites for breakfast. I returned to the cabin to collect my camera, sunglasses and hat so I could take some pictures of Nassau as we came in. David was still in bed, but got dressed and joined me. We made it to the helipad again, where we were joined by Matt.

After we docked, the three of us went ashore to visit the Atlantis resort, which was rather spectacular, if a little over the top at times. I got plenty of photos. In fact, I'm starting to max out the memory card in my camera. Scott, Dennis, Matt and I are planning to get together this evening for a photo exchange, so I'll have about four times as many photos to bring home as I actually took myself!

I think tonight will be relaxing. After I leave the internet cafe, I'll return to the ship for some lunch and a nap. I'll probably be in the main dining room for dinner. Maybe play some dominoes or cards. I'll have to pack for my flight tomorrow.

Monday, I'll be back at the office. I'm reminded of that cruise ship commercial with people talking about how they used to live like queens and kings. One guy is fiddling with the venetian blinds in his office, saying "I regard this as a temporary exile." I can sympathize; I don't think I'll be able to accommodate my afternoon naps at the office!
