Nov. 15th, 2015 09:19 pmToday, i washed a window. The windows in my condo are huge. Seriously, they're each as big as a handicapped-accessible doorway. Plus, they have storm windows. So, they aren't very easy to clean. My condo overlooks Charles Street, and it was unoccupied for at least a year, so there was a lot of street grime caked on the windows.
Master has been cleaning the windows, as well as other projects, while i've been working, but i washed the last one so that i could get some practice in. Master got the basic techniques worked out, then He advised me on the process. My only contribution was the use of the scrubbing bubbles spray to work at the caked grime. :-)
After i cleaned the window (leaving the storm windows for later), we went to Baltimore's Harbor East to watch Spectre at the Landmark theater. i'm an easy customer -- a movie just has to keep me entertained for a couple of hours, and Spectre delivered on that. After the movie, we picked up some groceries and returned home.
I started a pot of chicken stock and got to work on the storm windows, which went a lot easier than the main window. The main window doesn't come out of the frame, so to clean the outside of the glass, you have to hang out the window and be careful that you don't fall. It works the abdominal muscles in a way that i'm not really used to. :-)
Oh, i also finished re-glueing the veneer on my dining table. In the apartment, it sat directly in front of the radiator, and the heat caused the glue to weaken and the veneer to curl. So now that's all done.
i stored the chicken stock for a fish stew tomorrow evening, did a little laundry, and then went out to dinner with Russell. He got a chance to see the progress at the condo, but the last big change is tomorrow: my new couch arrives! The couch i've wanted for over a decade! Yay!
This next week is going to be taken up with preparations for my house-warming party on Saturday. We'll see how that goes. i'm not really used to entertaining, but i'm sure i can develop the skill set.
Another good day.
