Nov. 14th, 2004 01:05 amOne of the attractions at this event is the Saturday night country western dance. Not only do our dancers get to dress up and kick up their heels, the local community joins us and everybody has a good time. I don't dance anything but square dancing, but I enjoy all the cute men doing their thing on the dance floor.
Eventually, I returned to the bar, where Kirk and Chris joined me for a game of canasta. It was a nice, quiet, relaxing way to spend the evening. We never complete the game, however; Chris and Kirk were getting a little tired, so we declared Kirk the winner and they went to bed.
I stayed in the bar and chatted with a few of the other dancers, talking about past conventions and dramatic episodes of gay square dance history.
