I'm leaving for Martha's Vineyard with Mike about 9 a.m. this morning. We saw the last of their household packed up in the moving van early yesterday afternoon; it took them two days to pack everything.

After the van left, Doug M., Mike and I gathered up the remaining stuff and packed them in the pack of Mike's truck for the trip up today, touched up some of the paint in the house and had an early dinner at the Royal Mile Pub in Wheaton, which was very tasty. I had the Royal Mile sausage, which was probably like bangers and mash. Doug had the fish and chips and Mike had the shepherd's pie. Then the butterscotch pot de creme for dessert.

Rob left for the Vineyard on Monday with Beau and Iago. He said that Iago was running at 70 yowls per hour, but was completely over it by the time he was released into the new house. One of the parishioners had left him a nice meal and set up a card table and chair for him in the rectory, and he had a steady stream of visitors yesterday introducing themselves.

I spent most of the weekend and Monday with Eric, just hanging out. He's fighting off a sinus infection and didn't want to do much of anything else, which was fine. I probably wouldn't have been doing anything any more interesting at home and he was glad of the company. Mike and I agreed that it would be better for me to stay away from the house on Monday to just keep out of the way.

Snoopy spent most of the time yesterday staying close to Doug, Mike or me. Too many strange humans around and his usual animal companions were nowhere to be seen. Not to mention his home was slowly being dismantled.

Mike tells me that Snoopy becomes car sick if he even sits in a car, so my job will be to make sure that some kind of container is easily to hand in case he starts puking during the trip today. This is where I really begin to make myself useful.

The moving van should arrive sometime Thursday morning and I'll be useful again. Rob will be working, so it will be Mike and me unpacking stuff and arranging things.

The last word on my deposit is that Citibank will locate it and send a check to my home, which is what we were trying to avoid in the first place. Robyn will attempt to make another deposit again today (more invoices were paid over the weekend), but he'll be depositing a check this time.

At the proper bank. :-)
